Isn't It Funny How Things Change?

Looking back on life makes you think; did I, or do I really know what I want? I remember growing up as a kid, I couldn't wait to be be grown and I despised medicine. Especially in pill form. Now here I am at 25 wishing I was a kid again, or maybe 17 again so I could re-do things, or at the very least that life had load save options. That way I could go back after a bad decision instead of chaining them together like in a futile attempt to correct things. I also find myself doing a bit of self medicating to create a euphoric feeling and forget about the f**k ups that lead to this road I'm on in the first place...see what I mean about poor decisions?

Now at first glance it may seem like I'm just rambling incessantly. That's because I am. Remember though; this is a moment in my mind, but in conjunction with letting off steam I also want to make my readers think, reflect and hopefully be changed for the better after reading my thoughts.

What am I getting at? Well, I know all of us at some point wished we were older than we were only to grow up and wisb we could go back and try again. Perhaps some of us wanted one thing to be our calling only to end up behind a desk. I write this a semester or two away from a business degree, although I always wanted to be a poet. Before that i wanted to write scifi stories, yet here I am blogging unpaid on a column. My point? Life, ideas and circumstances change constantly and we must adapt to survive. Maybe one day my love of writing will yield substantial income, but in the meantime I must work a job I hate and build up my side business until that happens.

The moral of todays rant is; DON'T GIVE UP. Sure it stinks to fail, but you don't truly fail until you give up. Yes. Things get hard and yes, it may seem best, or easiest to quit but don't. No matter what your passion in life. Chase it. Reach for it. Strive for it with no regrets. Life is what we make of it, so make the best with what you are dealt.
